Anthony “Trip” Triplin is running to be Prince George’s County School Board Representative for District 6. He brings a wealth of civic and financial experience along with a passion for the welfare of Prince George’s County’s diverse student body.
Born in 1985 to Jerome and Sheila Triplin of Greensboro, North Carolina, Anthony grew up the youngest of five siblings. He attended Dudley High School, where he mentored his fellow classmates in social studies and science courses and volunteered in his free time with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.
Following his high school graduation in 2004, Anthony attended Norfolk State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2009. Anthony went on to earn a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in finance and accounting from American Military University in 2012.
Anthony Triplin served in the United States Navy and Army National Guard. While enlisted in the military, Anthony was awarded numerous service commendations, including the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
After his service in the military, Anthony further developed his financial knowledge and expertise as a Financial Analyst for the Department of Defense and as a member of ABNB Federal Credit Union’s Supervisory Board.
Beginning in 2012, Anthony served for two years in the Executive Office of the President under the Obama Administration. Anthony applied and was awarded for the Presidential Management Fellowship and moved to an agency that focuses on Energy policy . He currently works for the federal government managing over $350 million in research and development projects that focus on establishing partnerships with key public and private stakeholders to develop and demonstrate technologies for producing cost-competitive advanced biofuels from non-food biomass resources, including cellulosic biomass, algae, and wet waste (e.g. biosolids).
In addition to his military and civilian government service, Anthony has participated in a number of other civic organizations to benefit young people at home, and impoverished communities abroad. Anthony has served on the Virginia Advisory Committee for Juvenile Justice, a coalition devoted to preventing students from entering the court system. Anthony has also worked as a Chief Financial Officer for Deeper Missions, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to improving energy resources, clean water and sanitation for the people of West Africa. He is also a member of the Rotary Club, and Recording Secretary of the Kettering Middle School PTSA.
A resident of Capitol Heights, Maryland, Anthony is an active member of the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C. and the American Society of Military Comptrollers. In his free time, he enjoys rowing, reading, mentoring with the Big Brother Big Sisters program and bowling.
