Tagala became a video journalist in 2002. He covered Barack Obama’s historic rise to the presidency. He was at the storm’s path when Hurricane Katrina pounded the Gulf Coast and reported on the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting as well as the Orlando Pulse Night Club Shootings.

He also covered the 2016 US presidential elections extensively -- from campaign rallies, presidential debates to the inauguration of Donald Trump at the Capitol in Washington DC.

A science whiz kid in his teens, he finished secondary school at the Manila Science High School where he was named the Outstanding Junior Scientist by The Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. and Philippine representative to the 12th Singapore Youth Science Fortnight in 1989.

Immediately after he finished his Bachelor of Science Degree, Major in Biology from the country's premier State University - The University of the Philippines, he started his television career as a Science Researcher for “Sine’skwela” -- a children's science television show produced by ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation’s Foundation in 1994 and later on with Bantay Bata 163.

Today he continues to report for ABS-CBN News and its various platforms including ANC and TV Patrol covering the East Coast and South.
